This policy is kept consistent with the in-app "Privacy Promise", the App Store privacy nutrition label (Data Not Collected), and the PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy privacy manifest in the project, based on a full audit of the codebase on 2026-09-20.
The Short Version
Your child's artwork photos, videos, voice notes, names, and growth records stay entirely on your own device. No account, no upload, no ads, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
1.Data We Do NOT Collect
ArtSprout does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data:
The app contains no networking code and no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs;
There is no account system — no sign-up or sign-in;
No iCloud or any cloud sync — data never leaves the device;
No in-app purchases or subscriptions;
No behavioral tracking or user profiling;
No device identifiers, location, contacts, or any background data.
Our App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected."
2.Where Your Data Lives
All content (artwork images and videos, voice memos, transcripts, child profiles, and insights data) is stored in the app's local storage and App Group container on your device;
The App Group container is shared only between the main app and its home-screen widget / Control Center extension to display recent works — over no network;
Deleting the app deletes everything. Removing ArtSprout erases the local container; nothing can be restored by us, because the data never left your device in the first place;
You can also delete individual artworks, voice memos, or an entire child profile at any time — deletion takes effect immediately.
3.System Permissions
Permissions are requested only when the related feature is used, via the standard system prompt. You can revoke them anytime in iOS Settings > ArtSprout; the related feature will become unavailable, but everything else keeps working:
Permission
Purpose
Camera
Scanning children's paper artwork with edge detection and perspective correction
Photo Library (read)
Importing artwork photos and picking child avatars
Photo Library (add)
Saving your composed artwork posters to Photos
Microphone
Recording voice descriptions for artworks
Speech Recognition
Transcribing recorded voice descriptions to text (see Section 4)
Media & Apple Music
Picking background music for local slideshows — playback stays on device
Notifications
Local reminders only (e.g., record reminders); no remote push
4.Speech Recognition: Strictly On-Device
Voice transcription uses Apple's system Speech framework with on-device recognition enforced:
Recognition requests are always required to complete on the device; if on-device recognition is unsupported or the model isn't downloaded, transcription reports "unavailable" and keeps the recording — it never falls back to Apple's servers;
Recordings and transcripts are stored locally only and are never sent to any server;
The current version transcribes Mandarin Chinese only.
5.Interacting with System Services
Siri Shortcuts / Widgets / Control Center: implemented via Apple's standard App Intents; commands are resolved and executed on device, and the app performs no network transmission as a result;
AirPrint / PDF export / system sharing: all user-initiated through the standard iOS print, export, and share sheets; the destination is chosen by you and the system — the app never sends anything out on its own.
6.Children's Privacy
ArtSprout is made for families documenting their children's growth:
The app is operated by parents/guardians and does not collect any personal information directly from children;
A child's artwork, name, and birthday are stored only on the parent's device — no one, including us, can see them through the app;
The app contains no ads, no in-app purchases, and no external links, in line with privacy expectations for kid-focused apps.
7.Third-Party Services
None. The app integrates no third-party SDKs, analytics services, ad networks, or social sharing components.
8.Changes to This Policy
If a future version changes how data is handled, we will update this policy together with the in-app privacy notes and the App Store privacy label. The effective date shown above reflects the current version.
